WASHINGTON, D.C. – A recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) who challenged the denial of services by a Florida credit union has reached a confidential resolution with the company.
The 2024 lawsuit challenging the policies of Space Coast Credit Union was filed by MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) and Orlando–based Symphorien-Saavedra Law on behalf of Jose Rendon Leyva, of Fort Pierce, Florida. The case was resolved on mutually agreeable, confidential terms. MALDEF attorneys had argued that Rendon was denied a home loan because of his immigration status; Space Coast denies the allegations.
