CHICAGO – Voters across Chicago face critical decisions on April 2, 2019. There are numerous races that will be decided by Tuesday’s municipal elections, including mayoral, treasurer, and 15 aldermanic seats – eight of which will determine representation in wards with large Latino communities.
MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) encourages all eligible voters to cast their ballots.
Griselda Vega Samuel, MALDEF Midwest regional counsel, issued the following statement regarding Tuesday’s election:
“MALDEF’s mission is to protect the sanctity of every citizen’s right to vote. That’s why we encourage every eligible individual to cast a ballot, especially Latino voters, who have so much at stake. When you cast your ballot and fulfill your civic duty, you are helping map out a better future for your children, for your community, and for Chicago.”
