We all know that the United States is primarily a nation of immigrants and their descendants. But, it is also true that the United States is an independent nation in part because of a reaction to a restrictive immigration policy.

Our community is under attack - we face yet another oppressive piece of legislation.
This bill, SB1070, is currently before Arizona Governor Jan Brewer awaiting her signature. SB 1070 makes it a misdemeanor to lack proper immigration paperwork in Arizona. It also requires police officers to determine a person's immigration status.
