Summary: Under the supervision of the Chicago Regional Counsel, the Receptionist answers telephones and greets visitors to the MALDEF Chicago office and is the first point of contact for clients, vendors, and the public. Summary: Under the supervision of the Los Angeles Regional Counsel, the Research Coordinator collects demographic and healthcare data on the Spanish-speaking population of Los Angeles County to identify medical practices and procedures that reduce access barriers to quality medical and mental health services for non-English speaking and limited English speaking residents. Evaluates availability of services, and educates advocates, community leaders and others in the Latino community on how to identify and report problems; how to increase usage of Title VI enforcement mechanisms; and, with attorney staff, how to bring civil rights litigation on behalf of non-English speaking or limited English speaking individuals when appropriate.
